How much will it cost?
People often ask for a rough price over the phone. Every building is different, so the honest answer comes after a free survey: a written quote for the work, with scaffolding shown as its own line, and no obligation to go ahead.
Why lime mortar instead of cement?
Hard cement traps water inside soft sandstone. The wall cannot dry, damp builds up and the stone face breaks up around the joint. We use lime mortar, matched to the original joint, so the wall works the way it was built to.
Do you work on tenements and listed buildings?
Yes. We work on tenements, villas and cottages, including listed buildings, and can quote for one owner or the whole stair. We use lime and matching stone, and at the survey we tell you plainly what may need consent.
Are you insured, and is the work guaranteed?
Both. We are fully insured, and our workmanship carries a written 10-year guarantee.
