Why lime mortar instead of cement?
Hard cement seals moisture inside soft sandstone — the wall can’t breathe, damp builds up, and the stone face decays. We only use breathable lime mortars, matched to the original joint, so the wall works the way it was built to.
My building is listed or in a conservation area — can you still work on it?
Yes. Our methods and materials are approved for listed and conservation-area property, and it’s the kind of work we do week in, week out. At the survey we’ll tell you plainly what your building needs and what permissions, if any, your project may require.
