Raking out and repointing the stack in lime mortar, so water stops getting in and the stone stops breaking up.
Loose copes and cracked stacks
The heavy stones on top of the stack are the first to move. We reset, repair or replace them and bed them properly.
Leaning stacks
We tell you whether it can be repaired, needs partial rebuilding, or should come down.
Rebuilds and chimney lowering
Taking a failed stack down and rebuilding it in matching stone, or lowering an unused one to a safe height and capping it.

Chimney repair questions
How do I know if my chimney needs repairing?
Signs from the ground: mortar or bits of stone in the gutter or on the path, a cope that looks lifted, staining down the stack, a lean, or damp on the chimney breast inside. If you can see any of these, book the free survey.
How much do chimney repairs cost?
Repointing and resetting a cope is a very different job from a rebuild, and access is often the biggest single cost. That is why we survey first and show scaffolding as its own line on the quote. The survey is free and there is no obligation.
Can you just take the chimney down?
Yes, if it is unused and beyond repair, lowering it below the roof line and capping it can be the sensible option. We will tell you if that is the case rather than quoting for a rebuild you do not need.
Do I need scaffolding for chimney repairs?
Almost always, for safety and for doing the job properly. On some stacks a roof ladder and tower will do. We tell you which and price it separately.
Do you sweep chimneys?
No, we are stonemasons and we repair the stone and mortar. If your chimney needs sweeping or a flue liner, we will say so and you can book a sweep.
